Excelsior Zalk heeft op zaterdag 22 oktober de tweede plaats behaald in de 1e divisie op de Nederlandse Brassband Kampioenschappen (NBK). De uitvoering van Sinfonietta No. 3 van Etienne Crausatz werd beloond met 92 punten.
Excelsior Zalk zat deze middag als tweede band op het podium. De voorbereiding was dit jaar betrekkelijk kort. Jarenlang was de NBK in december, vorig jaar werd dit november en dit jaar zelfs al in oktober.
Prijs
De tweede prijs in de 1e divisie bestaat, naast uiteraard de eer, uit een Masterclass met een Besson/Courtois artiest en een Majestic Percussion voucher van € 300,-.
Review
4Barsrest, ’s werelds grootste Brassband-nieuwsplatform was aanwezig bij de NBK. Zij schreven na afloop van het optreden de volgende review:
Another confident, bravura effort — full of colour and excitement. That said, the score is packed with those elements all the way to the quasi ‘Music of the Spheres’ ending, and the band brought them out splendidly.
Not too sure of the quieter elements though — and there were times when the ensemble dynamics submerged the main solo lines, but the MD certainly kept the music flowing and his band rewarded him with a performance of vibrant merit.

Wij feliciteren de Spijkerpakkenband met hun 1e prijs in de 1e divisie! Ook proficiat voor alle andere winnaars: Immanuel (4e divisie), Gereformeerde Brassband Groningen (3e divisie) Constantijn Huygens (2e divisie) en Brassband Schoonhoven A (kampioensdivisie).
